The automotive world develops at an impressive speed thanks to technological evolution. Each of the pieces that make up a vehicle are works of pure engineering and their care becomes more complex with each advance.
That is why the industry dedicated to the care and operation of vehicles also devotes its efforts to the development of better oils that protect the engines to the maximum, the most delicate component of these machines.
In the beginning, only mineral oils were used that had to be replaced in a shorter time than the new synthetic or semi-synthetic lubricants.
The latter have significantly improved the time of use and performance of the vehicle thanks to its various chemical compositions, product of new technologies. One of the main advantages of this type of lubricants, apart from its duration, is its viscosity. This feature allows a better adaptation of the engine to the temperatures to which it is subjected at the moment, especially, ignition and running of a vehicle.
This type of oil is known as Multigrade and among its benefits is the ability to adhere for a longer period of time to certain parts that are in the highest part of the engine. In this way the wear of components to which the lubricant takes time to arrive when the vehicle is started cold is reduced. Another of the innovative characteristics of the oils is their property to ‘fill’ gaps or holes caused by the friction of the parts of the propeller. This guarantees an ideal operation of the vehicle in motion even when it already has considerable mileage. This element also has a direct relationship with fuel consumption, since the correct performance of the engine depends on it.
Currently, all vehicle brands work on the reduction of fuel consumption and, therefore, also investigates the improvement in the quality and properties of lubricants. However, always be alert to any change in the behavior of the vehicle as it could be directly related to an oil leak or a malfunction in any part of the engine. Perform regular checks with the dipstick can be one of the best alternatives to keep a car in perfect condition. However, it is always important to have the opinion of an expert to avoid any eventuality.
